We first met this lady in December 2016 as a volunteer and she was due to return to see us in the new year when she started suffering from heart problems and couldn’t. Just yesterday she called in to see what’s happening at the Concord Cafe; and after hearing about the Big Dinner, brought in handmade Kesra today which she made fresh herself! “We must help our community”, she said.

BD Day 6 – Two people have made a joint donation of a large quantity of meat today including chicken, lamb and minced meat. Really, what a wonderful gift. Chef’s will be pulling up their sleeves to get this meat cooked! All you have to do is turn up to the Big Dinner and share it with us!

Tagine Zitoune or chicken with olives, is a dish much loved in Algerian culture, especially during the month of Ramadan. The white sauce is cinnamon flavoured and thickened with flour at the end of preparation; and fairly easy to make.
